“Successful Business Transformation – What’s your Role?”

Business Transformation has emerged as a key focus for executive management to better align people, process and technology initiatives with business strategy and vision.  Leaders who have managed successful transformations have taken billions of dollars of waste, cost and complexity out of the end to end business and are now in a position to follow growth and innovation strategies. The reach of such transformations must transcend the various silos in an organization and thus all departmental leaders play an integral role in success.

This Keynote Panel draws on the perspectives from a diverse group of senior executives at leading organizations to talk about best practice, learning’s, pitfalls and enablers in their journey to business and supply chain transformation. Key topics that will be discussed are relevant to all continuous improvement and transformation projects and leaders. The content will be valuable to bigger global companies as well as smaller local manufacturers and retailers from across the different verticals and markets; from retailer to consumer-driven and industrial build to order manufacturers.

Best practice topics that will be discussed and debated are;

  • Improving demand forecast accuracy through joint value creation initiatives with customers.
  • Achieving reliable operations excellence in the extended product supply network.
  • Making balanced and balanced trade offs across the business using information, governance, and processes such as S & OP and network optimization.
  • Operationalizing demand and innovation across the extended value network.
  • Managing risk and complexity.
  • Change and performance management and organization design to achieve organization effectiveness.
  • Designing, structuring, and developing talent in the global organization.

“Effective Performance Management in Procurement Organizations – Ensuring Tops Down Alignment Through Metrics Management”

The Balanced Scorecard © has been utilized in many organizations since its original White Paper in 1992.  However, few organizations have been able to fully benefit from its implementations due to shifting executive and managerial direction over time.  This presentation illustrates an example of how Dell benefits in its Services Parts Procurement Organizations from a dynamic scorecard which stays directly linked to sometimes shifting executive guidance as macro and micro economic environments sometimes dictate.  You will learn how to quickly respond to changing conditions, align your organizations and maintain agility without falling prey to “metrics fatigue.”

Shawn McFay, Supply Chain Manager, Dell, Inc.

10:00 – 11:00am

“Managing Global Sourcing & Transportation”

Chris Corrado, Senior Director Global Logistics, Tyco International

11:00 – 12:00pm

“Beyond the Hype: Building a Sustainable Supplier Risk Strategy”

Supplier bankruptcies, shipping delays, and quality problems continue to capture the headlines of late. Noncompliance with regulations and trade practices worsen the situation. In a highly complex and networked business environment, it is imperative to understand tangible impacts of supply risk, and have the ability to establish sustainable risk management plans. For example, it is also equally important to be agile to change and act quickly on a supplier risk event.  What can you do today to turn a supply risk art into a science, establishing an effective and sustainable supplier risk management program? An information driven approach will be shared that drives a demand-driven supply strategy considering risk associated with spending patterns, supply base, cost savings.

3 key learning points:

-         Understand how to identify which partners/suppliers will continue to be viable long term?

-         Learn how to avoid or mitigate supplier risk while not missing savings opportunities?

-         Recognize how analytical insights provide the business user with actionable information which helps improve the supply monitoring process.

Michael Hartman, Director, Field Marketing, Channel and Business Development

12:00 – 1:00pm

"Strategic BCC Sourcing - setting the stage"

Gone are the days when a typical supplier was sometimes located literally across the street. With increased globalization in all aspects of the business, we need to look at a global pool of suppliers that would represent not only the low cost solution, but the “best cost” solution. Strategic sourcing from these “Best Cost Country” suppliers has thus emerged as a key focus for the supply chain professional of today. Sourcing from BCC suppliers is a paradigm shift from domestic sourcing that cannot be overlooked any longer.

In this session, we will review how global sourcing first started in the US and study the history behind the giants of global sourcing and learn how they evolve as the industry evolves over the decades. We will layout the foundations of a successful BCC sourcing process that works; compare and contrast the various countries and their sourcing strengths and weaknesses. We will understand the difference between piece price and landed cost – in a global world that understanding is critical in making the right business decision. We will also look at risk mitigation techniques, study some of the BCC sourcing pitfalls and go through a brief culture/sensitivity training any global sourcing professional needs to keep in mind. Finally, as any sourcing strategy is as strong as the people that implement it, we will define the profile of a successful BCC sourcing specialist.

This session is intended to enhance your knowledge and skill set of strategic global sourcing
